Juliana Sanches · Online sessions

Understand the patterns holding you back. Build different ones.

I'm Juliana Sanches, and I work with neuroscience-based counselling to help you understand why you react the way you do, and build more conscious responses in your life, your relationships, and your decisions — at your own pace, with someone walking alongside you.

Online sessions in Portuguese and English.

How I work

Understanding is not always enough. That's what NPC is for.

You've probably noticed that understanding a problem rationally isn't always enough to change how you feel or react. That's where NPC comes in — an approach that brings together behavioural neuroscience, psychoeducation, and practical tools to make the automatic patterns behind what you do more visible, so you can build responses that are more flexible and closer to what actually matters to you.

Areas of work

What are you looking for?

These are some of the themes that come up most often in the conversations I have. See if any of them resonate with what you're going through right now — they tend to overlap and change shape along the way.

Emotional regulation and self-compassion

Recognise body signals, emotions, and thoughts so you can respond with greater steadiness, inner space, and kindness towards yourself.

Cognitive flexibility

Notice rigidity, broaden perspectives, and experiment with more adaptive responses, including ACT-based tools.

Attention, planning, and executive functions

Develop strategies for attention, working memory, organisation, task initiation, decision-making, and monitoring.

Communication, relationships, and intimacy

Work on expression, listening, boundaries, relational cycles, trust, desire, and affective choices with greater awareness.

Life transitions and direction

Clarify values, decisions, and next steps during bereavement, separation, migration, career changes, or identity shifts.

Cognitive health and ageing

Support routine, autonomy, emotional adaptation, and meaningful participation throughout ageing.

Who this is for

This might be the right time — or it might not be, yet

NPC tends to make sense when you understand your patterns rationally but haven't been able to change how you react day to day, when you're going through a life transition and want to make decisions with more clarity, or when you want a structured space, with a defined beginning and end, to work through a specific question.

It might not be the right time if you are in crisis or immediate risk — in that case, please contact an emergency service or a local health provider. The same applies if you are looking for diagnosis, neuropsychological assessment, or medical treatment, since NPC does not replace that kind of care, or if you would prefer, for now, a process without a defined number of sessions.

About

Juliana Sanches

I am an MSc student in Cognitive Neuroscience and Clinical Neuropsychology at the Università degli Studi di Padova, founded in 1222 and one of the oldest universities still active in Europe. Before that, part of my academic path ran through Mackenzie, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where I first built the foundations of this trajectory.

Based between Ireland and Italy, I bring hospital-based experience spanning neurodevelopment, healthy ageing, rehabilitation, and altered states of consciousness. That path is what grounds the work I do today.

Through NPC, I bring together neuropsychology, psychoeducation, behavioural science, and reflective practice to help you understand yourself better and act more consciously in your everyday life. My role is to walk alongside you through that process, bringing structure and clarity exactly when you need them most.

How it works

From insight to real-life change

Understanding is only the beginning. NPC helps you notice, test, and integrate new ways of responding — in the life you actually live, not an idealised version of it.

Frequently asked questions

Before you begin

What is Neuropsychological Counselling?

It is a counselling and psychoeducational approach that integrates evidence-informed components and tools to help you understand patterns and support change in everyday life.

Are sessions online?

Yes. Online sessions are available in Portuguese and English.

How does the initial conversation work?

It is a free 30-minute conversation to understand what you are looking for, clarify the scope of NPC, and check whether the format fits your needs. It takes place before the cycle and is not part of it.

How is the process organised?

The NPC process is organised as a cycle of eight sessions. Individual sessions are €50 per session, totalling €400. Couples and relationship sessions are €65 per session, totalling €520.

*If cost is a barrier, adjusted arrangements can be discussed depending on your situation.

Why does the cycle run six or eight sessions?

This number usually varies between six and eight, depending on what you are bringing and what makes sense for your situation. Setting a number from the start does not close the door: if it becomes clear along the way that extending the process or adjusting the pace would help, we talk about it, and that extension can come from your request or my suggestion, whenever it makes sense.

Why work with a defined number of sessions?

Having a defined length from the start helps create a space with a visible beginning, middle, and end, which tends to bring more focus and less drifting along the way. In the very first session, we decide together what the focus of the work will be — and this is a moment where my perspective matters, because it is not always easy to see on your own what needs to change for things to get better, and you do not need to arrive with that answer ready. Along the cycle, there is also an explicit review point, where we pause to look together at what is working and what still needs adjusting. And the ending is designed, not an abrupt cut: you know it is coming, and you reach it with more clarity about what was built.

What happens after a cycle ends?

Finishing a cycle does not mean the door closes. Once it is complete, you can choose to open a new cycle to work on something else that has come up, or book a single session whenever you feel the need, without having to commit to a whole new process.

What should I do in an emergency?

NPC is not an emergency service. If there is immediate risk, contact the emergency services in your area or a local health service.
